Computer education at schools in rural areas in Gorkha District
Village Environment Nepal (VEN) is a non-profit organization going to towards the basic computer education in Gorkha district in Nepal. In Nepal computer literacy is a skill which is valued almost as highly as standard literacy! For children and teachers computer literacy is very important in the life. Still the students and teachers of the remote communities are never getting any opportunities to uses of computers. In the 21st century peoples don't have experienced ant qualified IT in Nepal and Nepal has just realized the importance of computer education. They need for skilled man power in Nepal and computer skill is necessary for everyone therefore the organization aims to brining theoretical and practical basic computer educations in the remote villages of Gorkha district. Many students get job opportunities after getting computer education program after their school leaving certificate and also the students can competition with the students of the urban areas. Also students get opportunities to forward their proficiency from computer information and chance jobs in reputed firms, schools and computer sectors. The goal of Computer Education Programme is to provide intensive Computer training to students, School Teachers and to establish through the applications of Computers and new skill sets, processes for efficient management of School administration that, in turn through the maintenance of accurate schools metrics will enable Schools to be more efficient and offer more opportunities to Students. The schools are runs on very basic facilities and they are not able to provide any access to information technology for the students. The school educates many girls and boys are from the region. The school feels it is essential for the students to have some experience and knowledge of computers and hopes to have some computers that the students can use. Working knowledge of computers is a huge benefit in this day and age and will improve opportunities available to school children. The school also hopes that it will encourage families to send their sons and daughters to the school. The support with this project will provide access for many students to the most important and influential technology in the world. VEN is planning to run computer project at different schools that provide basic computer literacy. Around 1250 students will be learning computers in different schools in Gorkha district in 2011-2012 through this program. VEN aim to provide computer education is several schools in Gorkha district which is planning to operate computer program from Shree Shaila Putri higher secondary school- Deurali. In 2011 VEN target to establish computer project in Deurali School and slowly extend the computer education in other neighborhoods schools Shree Thalibari Primary, Bageshowri lower secondary, Mandali Primary school and Maina primary so on. Computer education will be cooperating from Deurali School where three teachers are skilled about the computer education so the teachers of other school come to get education in Deurali School when they are skilled of the education to teach to children then we can expand computers for the new schools. In this way our organization is going to expand computer education in the different schools in Gorkha district VEN is running computer education in the following schools in 2012/13

- Shree Thalibari Primary school - Pandrung
- Shree Mandali Primary school-Baluwa
- Shree Maina Primary school-Gaygi
- Shree Bageshwori lower Secondary school-Amale.
